From: Jack Konings on 13 Sep 2006 12:36 What i'd really want to know (2.8) : 1. What are the differences to VO27A (new things, bugs fixed etc..); because then i can motivate to my boss why i would like to purchase it 2. What the upgrade will cost; because that's what my boss wants to know 3. When it will be available; so i can prepare/mould him until availability Greetings, Jack <djmadej1(a)poczta.onet.pl> wrote in message news:1158128053.941970.258410(a)i3g2000cwc.googlegroups.com... > Hi all, > Do you know, when will be Vulcan and new version of VO released? > > Regards > Jacek >
From: E?!k V!sser on 13 Sep 2006 12:45 Hi Jack, The featurelist and other details (costs etc) of VO 2.8 are not published yet. You should come to the SDE www.sdn.nl/sde (if you have not registrated yet) where Robert will tell and show us what will be inside. cu in Ede? From: Carlos Rocha on 13 Sep 2006 13:25 Rene, I was not talking about 2.8 price. I don't care about that. I care about bug correction and support after buying it, and this is not happening. I want to know about current status and schedule without going to somewhere to hear somebody. I hope I'm wrong because I like VO, but this NG is shrinking every passing day, and that's bad for VO and Vulcan future. Cheers, Carlos

Well it is, but you have to take a subscription for it. That is not very uncommen, my customers have a support contract to and they pay for updates and fixes. > I want to know about current status and schedule without > going to somewhere to hear somebody. I am sure it will be published, it is just not published yet. And people going to conferences have advantages above people not going to conferences. If this would change, there will not go a lot people to conferences, don't you think? > I hope I'm wrong because I like VO, but this NG is shrinking every > passing day, and that's bad for VO and Vulcan future Perhaps it is the time of the year. And most VO-ers are very experienced programmers, so they might have less questions. Most answers to the questions can be found googling in this newsgroup and/or digging the SDK. regards, Erik

Erik Just to establish credentials, I have used Clipper and VO continuously since 1986. I have not gone beyond VO 2.6, because everyone else here moved on to C# about three years ago and I am still waiting for a .Net version of VO. I agree with Carlos that the workarounds and samples provided by other NG contributors are of immense benefit. My concern is that these will become very sparse in the future as the NG shrinks, especially for the ..Net version.
