My made-for-Macs Matias Tactile Pro has an 'ins / help' key. Jim -- http://www.ursaMinorBeta.co.uk http://twitter.com/GreyAreaUK "Get over here. Now. My made-for-Macs *BY APPLE* keyboards - don't. Not unless there's an ins/help key in addition to the help key that I see above the arrow keys, which I somehow missed when I looked at each one carefully. It's possible I made that error. Given my crapness earlier over the fn key, I really don't think I've cocked up that way a second time... I'm pretty sure you're correct - I don't think there's a made-by-Apple keyboard with that key. I was just giving an example of a made-for-Apple keyboard. Is there any real use for a forward delete key? - I must confess that I've never used it. I did once write a program that gave you the option of completely reverse editing i.e. when you use the backspace key it not only deletes the character to the right of the insertion point (or the whole selection) but keeps the remaining text to the right fixed and moves the text to the left in to take up the space. Did the same with Cut, Paste and Clear too. It was very useful in its context, which was as an editor for aligned DNA or Protein sequences. If the alignment to the right of the cursor was correct that's exactly what you wanted to happen. Phil Taylor |
