After 12 months or so of steady decline on prices of the Rigol DS1052E scope on eBay (and other places), with them being around the US$400 mark or less for some time now from countless ebay sellers, the price has suddenly jumped up to US$550 or more from all sellers. There has also been a sudden and drastic red... 14 Jan 2010 21:24
How do you design these days?
When I was in school components fit on solderless breadboards and we made circuits using breadboards, power supplies, meters and oscilloscopes. Power factor correction
PFC is a flyback thing. But flybacks suck over 100W, where forward looks better. But forward sucks over wide duty cycle ranges. What do they do, just bigger flybacks? Nothing at all? RF Transistor Noise Source

There was no clear definition about how flat or to what frequency the noise was useful. It got me to thinking and I'll do the experiment as soon as I can clean off my bench, but what do y... 13 Jan 2010 20:02

Looking for simple way to interface BCD to serial (RS232)
I have a device that has a three digit LED display. The chip that drives the LED also has four Binary Weighted outputs (1,2,4,8) and three address pins for 100's, 10's and units.
