Driver for very small brushless DC motors?
I have a partly-baked idea I'm exploring, for a simple laser beam diagnostic tool. It needs a small brushless motor (less than 10 mm diameter and 3 mm tall) with an ironless rotor. I have possible motors in mind, but it seems that there are few integrated BLDC controller/driver chips these days. I was going ... 2 Dec 2009 13:15

Ping Bil Slowman; The global warming hoax reveiled
The global warming hoax revealed: http://www.nytimes.com/2009/11/21/science/earth/21climate.html?partner=rss&emc=rss <Quote from that article> This shows these are people willing to bend rules and go after other people's reputations in very serious ways,' he said. Fantastic new audio amp !
100Watts, runs from a 1.5V battery . Yes, that's correct ! So that would be a 500AHr. single nicad then, with a 2C charger. Its true ! http://www.audiumsemi.com/ ... 28 Nov 2009 13:27
day shot to hell
OK, I just got the first board from production this morning, for this spectroscopy controller thing. ftp://jjlarkin.lmi.net/First.JPG It gets 12 volts in, which runs an LTM8023 switcher brick to make 3.3 volts. The 3.3 runs most of the logic on the board (including a Spartan 6 and a PLX PCIe bridge, both BGAs)... 29 Nov 2009 23:25
Audio VCO design
"David Chapman" <dave(a)minda.co.uk> wrote in message news:DDdWWuJ6OmBLFw+u(a)chassis.demon.co.uk... As part of a larger system, I need to design and build an audio VCO which will produce tones ranging from around 50Hz to 4KHz or so when the applied DC input voltage changes from 0.5volts to 2.5volts. ... 23 Nov 2009 18:39
Fine pitch M30x2.0 nut source?
Have a Square D joystick with no hardware. The threads are apparently FINE PITCH 30 mm, probably 2.0 pitch. Regular M30x3.5 mm hardware jams. Any sanely priced source of mounting nuts or bezels? -- Many thanks, Don Lancaster voice phone: (928)428-4073 Synergetics 3860 ... 21 Nov 2009 23:36
Drag race Christmas tree
A bike drag race is being formally organised for the first time in my state by local enthusiasts and a government department. As they can't afford a full set of pro equipment yet, they asked me if I could rig up something for them - not for free, but obviously at a significantly lower cost and, if necessary, wi... 28 Nov 2009 16:47

Batteryless current clamps?
I'm curious how the Fluke i200s current clamp probe can give mV output without the use of batteries. How is this done? If one is measuring 200A I can see how the magnetic field could generate enough current in the probe to support some high-impedance, low-draw circuitry. But when measuring on the low scal... 21 Nov 2009 20:20
