1) I don't care what The Steve thinks about anything.

2) I don't like Flash because it's horribly inefficient.

3) I don't like Flash because it's horribly unreliable.

4) I don't like Flash because it's a huge security hole.

5) I don't like Flash because Flash-encrusted Web pages tend to be
unreliable and slow and hard to use (just reading the bloody things at
all...) and inclined to cause browsers to crash - not to mention
insecure.

6) I've almost no opinion about HTML 5 on account of near total
ignorance.

7) But that doesn't stop me wanting HTML 5 if it gets rid of Flash,
because Flash is so awful.

Rowland.

Remarkable. How to you know HTML 5 will not be worse?

BTW, I see none of those things you see with Flash, and I'm using an
inferior PC.

It's okay on the Mac as well; although I suspect that they got it more
right on the PC, as so often happens (they have more incentive) it works
pretty damn well on the Mac.

Indeed - I try to persuade clients to use as little animation as
possible - but not none at all - there is a place for everything - and I
have often been surprised at how small a file size Flash can produce -
even of videos.

But then I guess Rowland has a room full of Betamax and 8-track.
Perhaps even Silverlight just waiting for the day when everyone will use
them.

I dislike flash adverts, but when they go we will have html5 adverts, or
animated gifs,
Flash can do some great things, althought it doesn't often, and it is a
major security concern
