True, but you could impmlement the same stuff using different tech. You don't have to do it the same way. > For adverts there are blockers for it, so it is not so bad in that. Flashblock extension - Firefox. Blocks any Flash, advertising or not. Plenty of non-advertising Flash is obnoxious - it mostly adds nothing but annoyance, delays, security risks, unreliability, and CPU load. >If > adobe had put some effort into security it would be a bit better. Processor efficiency and code reliability are serious problems too. Hexedit's not such a cool tool for that job. Tell me, the man who sold you the kit in question, after you'd signed away your soul in blood, did he vanish in a puff of sulphurous smoke? 'cos only a pact with the devil can stop Flash crashing and thrashing and being a security risk. Peter, to claim that *YOUR* personal experience is somehow the definitive one is really rather naive. Especially since you know very well that you'd notice no problems with security holes until some time after they've clobbered you. Many people find that Flash on Macs causes problems with reliability for one thing. And of course it increases CPU load. You will see this yourself if you open up a dozen or so BBC iPlayer programme pages and just leave 'em sat there, ready to play but play not pressed. Go on, do it. And the CPU load is now what? So stop being so bloody dishonest, Peter. Of course you see no problems if you refuse to look for them and deny the ones that you know very well exist but don't show themselves until *after* they have caused you catastrophic problems. Yes, TOG's got the morbid obsession with me, and badly. He's *SO* obsessed that he's always got to have the last word, even when it's that sort of thing. Sad, really. And of course everyone hates him for doing so, if only because he sets me off again by making posts like that. I suppose I'm asking what techniques were used to get everything into Flash? |
