It was as bad as the wildfires in mexico a few years ago, when the
smoke was blown across the Gulf of Mexico, and across Central Florida.

They have a very shallow and small root system, and live on surface
water. Some areas of Florida are clay caps over sand, so the only usable
water is at the surface. Live Oaks have the usual deep roots that spread
out to find water.
