but you said it's independent - are you changing your mind? The fetus
may depend upon its mother's body for life support, but it still
depends upon external agents for life support for quite some time. If
you don't believe me, toss a baby or toddler into the middle of well-
stocked forest, with no passing humans, and see how well it copes.

It might be for you, but for some of us it's a more complex issue that
centres around the definition of being human and the consequent rights
and responsibilities of individuals within a society.
