NewsTap takes a bit of getting used to... It does. I keep muttering to myself about that being a good excuse to learn a bit of Obj-C and create a competitor but I never seem to get further than muttering. Or berating myself for not getting any further than muttering... -z- -- email: nettid1 at fastmail dot fm

One thing I *don't* like about the iPad is the corporate slick tether with iTunes, and in turn expensive to buy/use use OSs. It really should work with Linux etc. Otherwise, the iPad is a nice bit of kit, no doubt, but I'm under no illusion that I bought it because I can and it is the ultimate bauble. I was thinking how I could use it to read pdf docs - which cost all of 5p to print and read in comfort. Solution to a problem that doesn't exist. Rob

I suspect the trouble you're having understanding why this is not a good idea is related to the trouble you're having grokking the whole "Mac experience" thing. It's fine that you prefer to use a penknife to open cans and bottles because it's always on you and it saves the money and space of buying something else to do the same job, but some people really would prefer to buy a can opener and bottle opener to save the faff and complexity. Yes, complexity. And there's absolutely no judgement in there as to whether Ubuntu is actually any good for non-techies or not. It's all the other things I'm talking about. -z- -- email: nettid1 at fastmail dot fm |
