The last time I delt with Future shop had to have been around 1997, and it was the same up north as here... a compelx web of prices everything always on sale without some idea as to what the regular price was. Everything had a sticker on it in red "sale". But when asked what the regular price was, no one knew, or was willing to say. It was always a sale. Every once and a while you caught them saying "55% off" when the price last week didn't add up, their explanation was "oh, that was on sale then too, it's onsale again this week, every day price is always special". It's nutty they want to get rid of them that badly, but it's also nutty for me to have the ability to buy a 24pack of diet pepsi for less then the price of a single 12 pack, and the very next day two 12 packs are 1/2 the price of one 24 pack. It really depends on the shop.. I know office depot I can order from the website and pickup in the store. Ordering online usually means one of their trucks running by. It was cheaper with web coupons till the sales staff figured out how to enter them into their register. Office Max they got moody at me when I went in a print off of something in the store for a product that was web only, and asking them to check the barcode was too much to ask. Afterall, it didn't say delivery only. But I was trying to make this joke about this cultural difference you spoke of. The whole idea of running around asking for prices of things I consider to be troublesome. It's worth it once and a while.. though tires at Costco are a pretty good deal... off brands though it helps to shop around. |
