That $3.44 figure is definitely wrong and only appeared on the site in the last day or two. It was never there before believe me. It doesn't mean that Canadian Staples are a bunch of loonies, but it does look like whoever keeps changing prices on the web site doesn't know what they are doing. I've gone on Staples Canada site for years and never had a problem and the prices have stayed the same. Its just in the last few days, they obviously are having a problem on their website. I don't go on their site very often because the stores have far more stuff than the website and the stores products are usually cheaper. The inks are usually the same price on the website as the store, but I would never depend on the website for accuracy. Most people shop at the stores, and don't even look at the website. > $1.72 a tank would be equal to a $4.64 ip4200/ip4000 tank. I'll throw you a chocolate egg? :) You can hardly judge a whole country but a website. Its like me saying I would go bonkers if I lived in the US if Amazon.com had wrong information on their website which they sometimes do when I am looking for DVD movies. In fact, Ebay US site used to drive me nuts with their support, where you seldom get correct information. When I used to email them now and then to get information that there were no FAQ's for, they usually just say check out the FAQ's or gave me wrong information. I got to the point that I got more accurate information from other Ebay members on the Ebay forums. They are obviously having a problem on Staples Canada site - someone is messing up the prices and don't know what they are doing. It happens. Well, I shouldn't judge an entire Country based on one website, but it's common complaint that I have when shopping in Canada... and was a huge complaint when Future Shop existed in the states. Things have prices, they go up and down. This is perfectly normal and nothing to be ashamed of, but what drives me nuts is no real regular price, or not knowing it. When they finally left they had a final closeout sale with 50% off everything, but as it turns out the regular price was higher than the everyday price, which ment everyone was paying more. For example, I can hit the staples website and check out the price for the BCI-3e. It's onsale for $9.57. Regular price of $11.26. Soda is and milk are other examples of things that drive me batty. For example sometimes the 12 packs are cheaper than the 24packs, and while there is a regular price on soda, in the supermarkets the price hops around by about 50%. As with milk, which is often onsale either two 1/2 gallons are cheaper thant he full gal, or the full gal is cheaper than two half gal. I could either spend $3.00ish or $2.ish, or go to my favorite shop where it's always $2.50, which I typicaly do. But even in the cases of Soda, or Milk, or just about anyplace I shop, it's clear what regular price is. But needless to say, I'd believe they will sell you those cartridges for what was it, a pair for $3.00. They probally have a surplus they just need to get rid of. My complaint, and it's true it's more with that staples store than with Canada in general (and it was an attempt at humor), is it was not clear what regular price is. That way, savings can be exactly that... those bucks you can put into savings. > Zak, are you having a bad Easter? I'll throw you a chocolate egg? :) > You can hardly judge a whole country but a website. Its like me saying I > would go bonkers if I lived in the US if Amazon.com had wrong > information on their website which they sometimes do when I am looking > for DVD movies. It was an attempt at humor, and my observation of bouncing prices is typical. I would buy some cartridges that are clearly advertised at $3.44 or whatever the price was.. I'd buy a bucket load. This is as low as aftermarket biger tank in, and is actually likely to be a surplus issue and not nessicarly a mistake. Ml per ML $3.44 for two is fair. As with soda, often I can buy a 2 liter for 99cents, or a 600mloz for $1.25, or even a 1l for $1.50. Or I can not buy soda at all and brew coffee. Buying soda is too nutty.

When they finally left they had a final closeout sale with > 50% off everything, but as it turns out the regular price was higher > than the everyday price, which ment everyone was paying more. Future Shop here doesn't seem to be like that. I've shopped at the one near me for many years and they have their regular prices and they have their sales and if I am interested in something, I know their regular prices and if its a good sale price or not (same with all the stores here). It doesn't bother me because I know the prices of anything that I am interested in. Not sure what you mean above - the everyday price IS the same as the regular price. There is only regular price and sale price. I can't say I have noticed prices of items supposed to be on sale but being higher than the regular prices. When I bought my camera last fall, I had looked at camera prices at Future shop and Best Buy and Staples conmparing prices off and on for months and when they were on sale, they were on sale and when they were not on sale, they were their regular price. It was always that way. Now Future shop is owned by Best Buy in Canada and the US, so you can blame them now. > For example, I can hit the staples website and check out the price for > the BCI-3e. It's onsale for $9.57. Regular price of $11.26. Are you talking about Staples US site? If that is the case, it is probably more up to date because first of all, 10 times more people in the US use it than use the Canada STaples site, and secondly, most people here like to go to the store to buy items than in the US. The US buy products online far more than Canadians. Buying online has never caught on here like it has in the US but thats not to say people here don't buy online. They do, but they do not have the dependence on online purchases as much as US people in Toronto at least. Most of us like to go to stores and like to see things in front of us. As I told you about Staples site. People in Toronto don't buy from the site. there are so many Staples stores around. One on every corner. Now for people in small towns where there are no STaples stores, they will either drive to a nearby town which has a Staples, or maybe order online, or more likely to phone the Staples warehouse which is the catalog office and its a toll free country wide phone number. Probably more people phone Staples warehouse/catalog office than order online as you can also get more detailed information over the phone if there is not much info on the site which is often the case. > Soda is and milk are other examples of things that drive me batty. For > example sometimes the 12 packs are cheaper than the 24packs, and while > there is a regular price on soda, in the supermarkets the price hops > around by about 50%. I am presuming you are talking about soda (we call it pop) and milk at stores in your area?. Milk here is different prices in different supermarkets, but its always the same price at the same store and I've never seen 2 1/2 gallons cheaper than a full gallon. We use litres but same idea. So I've never run into the problem you mention above and believe me I shop a lot - too much sometimes and I pay attention to prices of foods and everything else. > But needless to say, I'd believe they will sell you those cartridges > for what was it, a pair for $3.00. They probally have a surplus they > just need to get rid of. I don't know about that. I think that is an error or they might be getting rid of Staples brand ip1500 carts because the ip1500 printer is old now and maybe that why Canon carts for the ip1500 are the only ones available online. The Staples stores could be different. They have tons more products than shown on their website. The website has only a fractiion of the products that the store have. Thats why I never bother with the website. Its just a vague guide and thats about all. In the US, where people like to shop online more than here and theres a lot more people, websites have to be up to date and more appealing to the public. My complaint, and it's true it's more with > that staples store than with Canada in general (and it was an attempt > at humor), is it was not clear what regular price is. That way, > savings can be exactly that... those bucks you can put into savings. Yuo mean the Staples Canada website? You can't go by that. It doesn't have all the products that STaples stores have and when I think of it, the website charges more than Staples stores most of the time which is another reason why people don't shop online at Staples Canada website. > > Zak, are you having a bad Easter? I'll throw you a chocolate egg? :) > > You can hardly judge a whole country but a website. I've never seen it at that low price and it wasn't there a couple of days ago and today they only have Canon cartridges for the Ip1500 and yesterday they had Staples and Canon carts on the same page. So I am waiting for them to get their act together and fixing the ink prices properly on the website. Also, the store might have them at a different price, but usually the store has sales of Staples carts now and then but the website usually doesn't. Thats why I don't bother with the website. they are usually more money. > As with soda, often I can buy a 2 liter for 99cents, or a 600mloz for > $1.25, or even a 1l for $1.50.
