Currency conversion in Calculator
I recently re-installed Snow Leopard from scratch (printer problems as ususal) I tried to do a currency conversion (from USD to Sterling) in the calculator. It said that the coversion rates were last updated 30/11/2007! And what is more, it won't update when I press the button. According to Get Info, I have... 13 Jun 2010 05:05
Spotted one in the wild
Dear Sir, The poor spring weather has meant that sightings have been somewhat thin, but this morning on the 0611, I was able to identify from its chirp and plumage, a black-backed iPad near Milton Keynes. Is this a first? Alas, I could not spot its mate, but I'm sure it must have one lurking in the bushes. Yo... 11 Jun 2010 14:49
Adobe's pricing policy (again!)
I just spotted that LR3 is out with Student discount. Hmm, might be worth a trial of it for that price, and see if it really is better than Aperture. But, you have to go through fiery hoops to get the discount, fair enough I guess, and you have to be a rich kid at an 'accredited public or private school' to qual... 11 Jun 2010 08:08
Something else the iPad - or rather iOS - needs
The standard [Cut][Copy][Paste] controls need one more - [Delete]. Works like [Cut] but doesn't overwrite the contents of the clipboard. When replying to a long usenet post and you only want to quote a small part of it, and you want to paste in a quotation from the web, you currently have to go to the web, copy t... 12 Jun 2010 09:21

What's it? I know the iPhones new iMovie app does it, the mac has it onboard, what's the actual deal with it? Do you tend to use it when transitioning between shots? ... 16 Jun 2010 11:04

iPhone battery life comparison
I put this together for myself, then thought I might as well post it. Comparison of Apple's battery life claims for the various models of iPhone - might be of interest to see how much extra battery life you might expect from the iPhone 4 when upgrading from older models (I'm coming from the 3G and only make it th... 12 Jun 2010 18:13
OK, I'm sold (was: Keyboards?)
I got the new keyboard today - the aluminium Apple Extended one. OK, I like it. Not as bad as I was expecting. Indeed, it feels really slick to use. I'm glad I didn't use the MacBook keyboard as a benchmark, it's quite clear how different they are now. - there's about two extra keys of width on the external keybo... 10 Jun 2010 14:34
Quicksilver and [application] -> services menu
Is anyone still using Quicksilver? Just me? I'd like to shortcut an item on the services menu (view in Tofu) with the current selection. Ideally it'd be 'current selection' -> view in tofu. But I'm not seeing items from the services menu as available in QS. Any suggestions? Justin. -- Justin C, by the se... 12 Jun 2010 19:20
Google homepage weirdness
Using 10.5.8 and Firefox 3.6.3 - the google.co.uk homepage is displaying a horrid background picture. It says to change it go to your google account and bla, bla, bla. However I can't log into the account it just recycles the page after inputting the password. I have cleared cache etc but still the same. ... 10 Jun 2010 20:11
